cam sensor no signal?
Hey guys, I'm working on my 2004 ford Triton 5.4l. After dumping a boat load of money and changing the cam phasers with my local shop I still have a rough running truck. Now The engine code is reading bad cam sensor bank 2. The mechanic is really a decent guy but is now recommending I take the truck to ford dealership. He is saying the sensor is not receiving a signal and is blaming the computer. When the sensor is plugged in won't even stay cranked. When it unplugged its actually is drivable, but has issues. Running low on patients and money....

Seems a little backwards to me. The ECU is looking for a signal from the sensor not the other way around. Check the connections at the sensor and where ever else you can see. Chances are the mechanic dislodged, damaged something, left something unplugged.

subscribing... I recently did my driver side cam phaser.. after the install got p0345 and p0349 codes.
truck runs fine. just getting those codes and check engine light. I can disconnect the driver side cam phaser sensor and the truck still runs fine... just want to see what you come up with.. i'm guessing somewhere in the wiring or connector theres a break or something..

When I took the truck in for the first time to have the phasers fixed it sounded like a diesel truck dying, lots of clicking and ticking. When the truck came out it ran great, for about a week. AfTer that it developed a miss that turned into a total engine misfire no ticking though and it has the code bad cam sensor bank 2. If the sensor is left unplugged it will drive ok with some dying but when its plugged in barely runs.
