Default Calling all Ford Tech's

I need some input on a 2002 Taurus shifting problem.

Recently had transmission flush and now the engine will stutter after slowing down from highway speed, when you throttle back up it will jump and stutter.
But not all the time????

Just need some ideas before I take it back to dealer.

Did this problem occur only after the flush? How many miles are on the car? A lot of times with high mileage cars, they say its better not to flush the tranny, because the tranny has worn to the old fluid. Sounds crazy, but it happens. Also it sounds as it could be as simple as a proper TV cable adjustment, or as bad as warn out bands internally.

This has 75K on it and the transmission has been service at regular intervals.
Yes the problem happened after the last flush.
There is no slippage and this doesn't happen all the time just once in awile.
Note: only after transmission is at normal temp.

No lights come on the dash either.

So are you saying the engine will stutter or the transmission is making the engine feel different?

It feels like engine stutter, similar to if a pressure switch had gone bad and the transmission is not down shifting in deceleration.
The strange times this is happening is if you brake on the highway for a slower car and you throttle up to go aroound it will sometimes shutter for a moment and then go.

It does sounds like a problem a missadjusted TV or kickdown linkage could cause. Not 100% sure on your case though.

tv cable was long gone in the taurus by 02, its now an epc solenoid thats controlled by the pcm. Was the flush done at a dealer?? Did they put merconV back in it?? If its an ax4s they do have problems with the piston in the direct drum binding but you prob would have noticed before the flush and that will usually bang on downshift when almost to a stop..

Ok that makes sense. I have heard of people swapping out the PCM's to improve the way the transmission shifts, didn't know it was directly related to the shift solenoid though. Maybe the issue there if the wrong fluid was not used? Just trying to help brainstorm here.

sounds like possibly wrong fluids,, The pcm determines shift strategy from multiple inputs, like throttle position, maf or map for eng load, ect, speed sensor and stuff like that. It controls epc( electronic pressure control ) and shift solenois to apply different gears ..

Does the transmission feel like it wants to move the car foward in neutral?
