Default Cabin air filter

Can anybody tell me how to access the interior filter so I can change it?

What year is your truck? Some don't have any.

Default Cabin Air Filter

1998 Lariat, X-cab. Maybe I don't have one and that's why I can't find one.

Try looking behind your glove box. That was where it was in my Tacoma anyways. I just had to open the glove box and then pull on a couple of side tabs to drop the door down and out of the way.

I think 2015 is the first year the F150's ever had a cabin air filter.

That's incorrect. Well according to AutoZone anyway. I went there looking for one when I bought my 2011 F-150 and they told me it didn't have one.

So how does that make the Ford accessories manager incorrect? I don't understand.

I don't remember the trucks ever having cabin filters, I know Taurus and Contour and several other cars that had them.

I looked thru the 2013 shop manual and it does not show one either.

Until 2015, the last time that a F-150s had a cabin filter was 2004. And that was a retro-fit kit which could be installed on the 1997s-2004s and has long since been -OBSOLETE- ...
F65Z-18D477-AA - cabin air filter retrofit kit
  • F65Z-19N619-AB - cabin air filter
  • F65Z-19B736-AA - cabin filter cover
  • F65Z-19871-AA - cover bracket "A"
  • F65Z-19871-BA - cover bracket "B"
  • W701696-S421 - bracket mounting screw
  • N605758-S58 - cover mounting bolt

For 2009+ ... -IF- you have the factory heated/cooled seats option, there is a cabin air filter of sorts under each of the front seats ...

*Motorcraft part # FS-104

^ Those things were a pain in the a**. Had it on the ole Titan. Gets plugged and restricts cabin air flow....good to know won't have to deal with that!
