My transmission went out in my 2006 with 98k miles. $3500 at the dealer for a new one with a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty.
On the 04-08 generation, The transmission does make me think they are lacking strength, but if you maintain them good, they should last, I bought mine with 90k and it had a trailer brake controller so i know it spent some time of it's life towing, and that took a toll on it.

On another note....that had to have sucked to buy the truck then have the tranny go out 8,000 miles later. Makes ya wonder if the previous owner knew something was about to give so decided to get it off their hands.

I agree, I think the transmissions in those trucks were weak judging by the amount of people that have had them fold seemingly early in their life. Its crazy to see the amount of people that have had them crap out close to 100,000 miles.

I've also never understood the point of being on a ford forum n bashing ford while you drive a ford? Sry if I come across as a d*** not trying to but just putting in my .02.
