Default broken front coil springs

I had the oil changed on my 2010 F 150 Fx4 today and the technician told me I had two broken coil springs. The vehicle has only 60 K miles and has not been used off road or abused.
Is this the result of a manufacturing defect as both coils were broken at the same place near the bottom and looked corroded?

I SAW them and took pics. Surprised me because I had no problems with suspension or noises or pulls.looked like they were broken for some time.

It happens, it's 7 years old with 60K miles on it, it's a relatively cheap fix.

The 1997 didn't have the weight on the vehicle that the new one does, about 1.5Kpounds difference.

They're about $200 for the pair, so that's about $200 labor, which is fair.
