See problematic part of your thought process is people arent dying due to parts that ford uses from this company called CTS. On the other hand the company that built your truck has created cars that accelerate out of control putting the lives of its passengers and everybody in the road in danger. But hey keep buying foreign if the car doesnt kill you, at least the frame will rust out. Why are you on a f150 forum when you drive a tundra?

i believe in another thread he stated he just wants to talk about all kinds of cars, but it seems to me like everytime toyota is brought up he gets all defensive and bashes ford

From my looking at Tundra sites, it seems as though their communities are about 50/50. Many are stating this is a huge deal. Others and your more die-hard fanboys, think this is a knee jerk reaction and blame it soley on the driver.
Now I do agree some of the problem is due to bad drivers who do not know how to handle their vehicle in such emergency situations. But I also think these are defective vehicles that truly need fix. Basically a double wammy, bad drivers behind the wheel of defective vehicles, talk about scary!
Please everyone, keep an eye out for Toyota's anytime they are around you, whether behind, in front or sitting at an intersection stop light. We don't know, and the owners don't know, if/when they will turn into "Christine" and take off on their own!

From what I have read, these cars are drive-by-wire, so some people think that the problem is in the software/hardware of the vehicle, not just the mat jamming against the pedal.

I wouldnt go that far. That seems a little paranoid. This problem only applies to a miniscule fraction of toyotas out on the road. I also dont understand how you can blame any of this problem on the driver. Since when is somebody supposed to be prepared to have no breaks and a car that accelerates all by itself? I would have trouble calling that state trooper a bad driver just because he couldnt prevent a runaway car from crashing.
Think back to the Explorer/Firestone recall. Those were defective tires, prone to blowout. Clearly a problem. But the majority of accidents and deaths were caused by bad drivers who did not know how to react to a blown tire. Many over corrected, at an excessively quick rate, causing the vehicles to roll. So just like the Toyota issue, the Explorer/Firestone issue was two fold, both driver and defective vehicle (actually tire).
And minuscule? They've recalled practically 57% of their 2009 sales. The Avalon goes back to 2005. Other models that were in the floormat recall, could potentially be recalled as well. And the Tacoma, which isn't in either recall, has been one of the vehicles reported with the most occurances of this problem.
