Brake controller
I know this has been addressed before to some extent, but I couldn't find the exact answer. If have a 2013 without the factory brake controller but with the tow package. I know I can get an after market controller from anywhere. But my. Question is, can I go to the dealer and have them get and install the exactly same OEM brake controller in the same exact SPOT as a factory installed brake controller? I know if has to be re flashed, but will the dealer installed controller look just like the factory installed controller and function the same?
I saw an exact truck I want but it didn't have the factory brake controller. On the fence whether I should get it or just go with a order instead. The one on the lot is the crew cab v-8 and if I ordered one I think it would be the v-6 turbo either way it would have the heavy duty payload package.
Any suggestions or help would be of great help.
Thanks.

I have a 2012 screw with the tow package and I had the dealer install an OEM trailer brake controller after purchasing the truck. It wasnt a problem. The guy told me the wiring harness and everything was already there just needed to hook it up
Hope that helps

But is the brake controller they installed in the same location and type that would of been installed from the factory? How much was it if you don't mind me asking?

I went to my dealer today for something besides the brake controller and asked for an estimate on the install of the OEM brake controller assy to be installed on mine that did not have it originally. Price was $448 and some change...Man, thats a lot of jack for something like that. I think I can get the part on line for less than a 100 bucks....

The difference between and aftermarket and the oem controller is that the oem senses how hard you're applying the brakes and applies the trailer brakes proportionally. The aftermarket controller uses either a pendulum or an "accelerometer" to sense that you're slowing down, it works 99% of the time, but if your wheels don't get traction and you don't slow down, then it won't apply the brakes. If you can get it, you want the factory controller.

I can't find the plug for the oem brake controller in the dash. 2013 SCREW FX4 with tow package. Has the receiver, etc on the back of the truck. I took the dash apart and took out the coin pocket, no wire. Looked all around for it, no luck
Window sticker says tow package and trailer sway control. I ordered the oem controller on ebay
