Default Blue LEDs in hood scoops?

Alright, so I've started kicking around the idea of something a little out of the ordinary for me... I've got an aftermarket fiberglass hood and was thinking about putting maybe some LED strips inside the scoops or a couple LED bulbs... Blue, obviously as the title states. Before anyone jumps down my throat about it being illegal!!! Yes, I know it's frowned upon in many places. 95% of the cops know my trucks in my area (not just in a bad way, although some do lol), so they just let me get away with a lot. That, and as long as you're not an a**hole while driving, they won't bother you....somehow I still don't get bothered But anyway, what would be the best way to approach this? And what are your opinions on what to use? Most likely going to run them to a switch inside the cab so I can toggle them on and off.

Well if your going to do it, I would NOT install the brightest blue LEDs out there or it will look ricey. It might look half way decent if you go more of an ambient intensity. What do you think?

Oh and dont install them so that they are visible. indirect lighting will always look best. When LEDs like this are visible, it looks like you installed them yourself after the Black Friday sale at Pep Boys.

I think we think the same lol. That's why I'm kinda leaning towards just one 197 bulb or something small... The LED strip may light up too much, and I'm pretty sure the inside of the scoops is just unpainted fiberglass unless the P/O had it painted entirely...which he might have. Left the invoice for it and paid upwards of $1000 to have it painted and installed. I could do "Kit" style tracers back and forth lol

Yeah, I've got a little taste left in me lol. I don't like things to be too over the top, but a little accent would be nice

Wink

I had a '94 T'bird LX that I did this to, and it looked good. I got nice comments on it all the time. I had put on an original '69-'70 Mustang/Torino GT Cobra Jet hood scoop, that also had the factory turn signal indicators. The blue LED strip was mounted at the inside rear of the scoop, and I wired the strip into the parking lights. Over the years I've done this to various other cars. The first was my Customized '73 Vega Wagon (back in '81-'83. I know. I was young). Another was a '70 Ford XL convertible. Same thing as the T'bird, same scoop. Only difference was they weren't LED's back then. They were little lights that you could get at Radio Shack back then. So, I don't think it would look "Ricey", unless the overall look already is....
