Default Big Fuel Economy Drop Off

I'm looking for some suggestions. I have a 2010 F-150 XLT with the 5.4. It has 32,000 miles. At about the 31,000 mile point, I had an oil change and also changed the air filter. Just after that, I got into an accident and the truck sat in the body shop for 25 days. I picked up about two weeks ago. They did about $9500 worth of body work including four new tires. The same type of tires that had come off.

Prior to the accident, I was getting about 14 combined and could pull 20 on the interstate with the speed at about 70mph.

Since getting it back, my combined mpg is due to about 12 and I had trouble getting 18 on the interstate.

Any idea what could have happened? I've never seen numbers so low out of this truck. Should I have the dealer flash the ECM again?

Could be the battery went dead or they disconnected it while working on it essentially erasing every thing it had learned, I would drive it a while, couple tanks worth anyway and see if the mileage settles back where your used to.

I do believe they disconnected it. They had better than half the truck in pieces.

Oh, the other thing - when I open the door, the dome light doesn't turn on. Weird.

Was every one okay? 10 grand is a lot to fix a truck! You got any before and after pictures?

Right after the accident, 20 days into repairs, and then completed.

Wow, glad everyone was ok. Seems that these F150s can withstand quite a big side impact. I am surprised the frame was not tweeked enough to total it.

its very hard to tweak these f150 frames. They are very stout compared to the older f150s.

That was from a 2002 Chevy Malibu moving at less than 40 mph. But it took the fender, two rims, two tires, nerf bar, both doors, sills and rocker panels, uniside, and a butt load of paint work.

I'd hedge my bets here as well. Transmission may need to re-learn you. Really nice black F-150 though brotha !
