Default Best years to lift...look good truck for work

I will try to keep this brief.
I am working for a roofing company now in sales. All the other sales guys have nice trucks lifted up, mildly customized etc. The idea is to NOT show up in a half rusted out beater truck...but to present a little better image. Also it almost EVERYONE comments about the trucks and its a bit of an ice breaker. The lifts etc are just for show mainly...and winters here in Nebraska.

I have been an F150 fan, wife has an '04 she uses for the horses etc. I would like some opinions on which are easiest to modify/lift. opinions on which look better with a lift etc. I have a fairly limited budget...and I wont be going huge.

Thanks.

If your on a budget and want a cool lookin mild lifted truck find a clean 9th generation (getting harder to find but do able) 92-96 F150 with the 5.8l 4x4 I still think they are one of the sexiest looking older 4x4s out there

ok, I agree, I love that body style...you are right...harder to find (at least ones that are not totally rusted out.)

My thought...and I dont know how true this is or not, is that those get like 9mpgs on the highway...lol.

I drive about 60-100 miles a day. I know NO truck is going to get mpgs like a Fiesta...but 97 later are going to get closer to 15 on the highway right?

uhm, most 92-96 f150s that are taken care of will easily do 15 mpg, hell my f250 with the 460 gets 12-13 in town/freeway. my last fill up i got 11 with about 90% town driving and me not trying to save gas lol.

Theres no way.... I had a 95 f150 single cab with a 5.0, CAi, dual exhaust, 2wd, 50k miles, and stock height and tire size. I was lucky to get 10 MPG highway/town mixture. a 5.8 with 4x4 and lifted wont get 15 MPG if you push it around town

Sorry to bust anyones bubble here butt if your going to lift a truck and add larger tires and wheels your mpg is going to drop dramatically... My 2003 5.4 with 33's is getting around 10 to14 depending on how many stop lights I hit in town... Just a little fyi

Lifted with 33's-35's you're looking at around 12mpg for a '97-'03 5.4L 4x4.

Unless you go with a brand-new truck that gets good mileage, your wallet is going to be pretty sore traveling that distance every day. Then again, it will be pretty sore paying for that new truck.

I put on about 250 miles a week and I average around $90 a fill-up.
