I don't want it to sound raspy or poppy though, i want it louder but to still sound clean, is a aftermarket system the way to go?

You can Google your year truck engine and exhaust and tons of videos will pop up showing you the sound. Like for mine I'd look up 08 F150 5.4 exhaust.

Keep in mind, you may get a better sound, but it'll never sound like a V8.

i know, but it's really quiet now so i think a different exhaust would be a huge improvement

You do understand sound and performance are not the same and a loud exhaust without performance gains in immature, and illegal

First, put the cat back on.

Second, your neighbors will appreciate you putting it back to stock. Free flowing? No problem, you'll gain a little volume, not much. Frankly, V-6s sound like *** with "louder" exhausts.

Hell, even OHC V-8's don't sound as good as a cammed pushrod engine.

You THINK nobody will care. There are plenty of people who live in the country who will hear it and they might not know it's you, but it gets old.

Don't know what you all have against a good sounding V6, I know my Mustang will never sound like a V8 but it does sound good.
All it has is Short Tube Headers and Borla Touring Mufflers with the Stock Cats and Resonators.
