Maybe he bought the truck, then came on hard times and needs to save where possible. Or maybe he wants to buy some beer and doesn't want the wife to realize extra money going out the door.
You have your opinion and I have mine. I'm not trying to criticize anyone but common sense can go along way sometimes. I mean you have to kind of laugh when you see threads like this when people complain about the MPG they are getting and they drive a truck, what do people think these trucks are going to get 25mpg?? I sure would hate to see his reaction if he lifted it and put bigger tires and wheels on it. And like I said earlier in my first post, deal with the MPG or get yourself an economy car.

I love my truck..... But ford nor the EPA should Be claiming these trucks will get 21 mpg.... If they advertised 15 and I got 15 it'd be a different story.... But they advertise 21...... So am I or anyone else wrong to expect it? Don't you think if Toyota advertises 46 mpg from a Prius and the new owner never gets above 30, that he'd be pretty upset? I betcha he would.... I believe we all realize that we bought trucks and traditionally they aren't fuel efficient.... But ford is creating its own mess by claiming such high mileage, charging us for it, and then expecting us to live with it when it just isn't as advertised. My two cents.....

Well, here's a question, what did the "Expected Range for most drivers" say right under the "Maximum advertized fuel economy" on the window sticker?

I would suspect that most are getting higher than the lowest number indicated.

Btw: my old 91 302/E4OD 2wd Scab LWB got 10-12 city and 19-21 highway at 55-60MpH.

http://www.edmunds.com/fuel-economy/...a-ratings.html

Air conditioning, hot weather over 90 degrees and gasoline with ethanol seems to be my new "excuses" for such poor mileage.... Nice little article.

This article states:

"The EPA derives its estimates from driving simulations done in a laboratory. The highway simulation covers 10.3 miles at an average speed of 48.3 mph, with about half the time spent at 55-60 mph. Not exactly real-world. Since 2008 the EPA has included an 8-mile trip that adds more aggressive acceleration, spurts up to 80 mph and more than half the time over 60 mph -- somewhat closer to reality. Neither test runs at a steady speed, the kind of driving you will likely do and an approach that should improve your mileage."

you have to realize when they make those claims its on a flat test track with the cruise control set. ideal tires and road conditions come into effect as well as how many options are on the truck how much it weighs etc.

Well then after reading that article. I'm getting 41% less fuel efficiency . 1. Got a truck 2. Live in hot wether Texas 3. run Ac all the time i think they forgot to ad tire size. I think that effects fuel consumption too. LOLol. Then again it's a truck so if I wanted fuel efficiency I would be driving a focus LOL. On plus side I'll be moving back to northeast Ohio in October. So it will be cooler and won't be using Ac.
