Default Best F150 year model

I tried to search for this but was unsuccessful

What would you say is the best old F150 model? We had to sell the wife's car and all we have is my truck right now; she stays home w the little one. I want to spend just a few thousand on an old truck for just when we need two vehicles. Was there a certain year model (was thinkinhg mid to late 90s) that was a solid truck? Don't know much about old trucks.

Had this talk with a friend of mine just yesterday. I personally think that a 2003 built late in the year is the best. Ive owned 2 of them and never seen a dealer after driving it off the lot.

96 was the first year OBDII and built on the same everything else, very dependable. 97 they changed the body to the aerodynamic style. I'd want a 96.

And just a FYI if you end up finding a 97-03 model id personally stay away from the 97-98 due to it having the NON-PI heads.

I would look for a 96-back with a 300 straight six. In TX, you should be able to find a nice rust free one.

My 2010 has more up front in the cab room then my 2015.....I'd say go with the 2010 for a 'old' truck...Merry Christmas

Had my '99 F150 Flare Side 5.4L Lariat (orig.owner) w/Ford oem 20" HD wheels until buying my new '14 Platinum.

Only problem I had was a few coil on plug issues with cyl. 3 & 4.

It had 92K miles on it and now my brother in law has it and still runs like a top!

That's not a 96, 97 is when they went to that body style. I know because I was working at the Ford dealer when it came out. It may have been built in 96.

This is a 96 http://gtcarlot.com/colors/car/40302757-6.html
