Default Best contact for Ford to ask a simple question.........

As the title says.....what is the best contact "point" to ask Ford how I can tow the advertised 7600 lbs with my F150?

I know why I can't....I'm trying to get them to tell me how. I'm a little miffed that I can get no where CLOSE to what they say I can. I don't need too because I did my research (along with help from many on this forum) and chose the right TT for us. Yea...I'm pushing a point...but I'm pissed!

Ford doesn't advertise the towing capacity of any single truck. They only advertise the maximum for a given configuration (engine/cab/wb/gearing). It's a bit misleading, but that's advertising.

I know that now lol. But, when the sales people at the dealership go by that "advertised" number....it's almost a type of scam. And I am good friends with my sales guy and dealership. Same with the RV place.

Don't get me wrong...I love our truck and trailer setup. I am well within the capacities on both and combined as far as weight limits. But that was because I realized what was happening. What about the next guy coming down the highway (say....an Expedition and large trailer) towards you or I and THEY don't realize it?

I've got it all figured...it's the sales people that don't! This is why I want to approach Ford and tell them to give their sales people courses on towing weights... Not one of them looked at the door sticker on my truck to make sure I wasn't overloading an axle......ESPECIALLY the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I was told by my Ford salesman, a very good friend of mine, that I could tow 9500 lbs with my truck. I said no. He said...been doing this for 30 years..... Well, we went to the supposed site that shows the truck tow capacity. Yea...the truck will tow 7600 lbs but can't legally. That is the bottle neck regarding the entire tow scenario.

Let me add this. The CVSE person that was at the government weigh scales even went to look at his truck sticker when I was inquiring about my vehicle. They were overloading THEIR truck!!!!!

There is no one to talk to. Ford, and the other truck manufacturers, know exactly what they are doing by stating what they state. The issue here is that salespeople and others don't bother to take the time to get educated because 9/10 consumers (maybe 9.5/10) don't either.

My point exactly!

It's the salesman that told me my truck would pull the load...it will....but not legally. The RV salesman told me my truck would pull the first trailer I looked at. It could...but not legally.

What's the legal weight for your truck to be able to pull? What's the law stating you can't?

I'm curious since I'm in BC and tow.

Edit: You're talking about payload and GAWR? The salesman was right, you can tow that weight, just without passengers, Cap on the back of your truck and an assumed Tongue weight of 10%.

Most TT's are higher than that for TW.

Key word in both the RV and Ford dealer is "sales". Their job is to move units safety be damned.
