I am looking for a shortbox (5.5') topper, that can fit my 2010 F150 crew cab. I am going out west this fall and need to store a lot of gear.

Yes, I'm old (64) but I think my truck still has an attitude with a cap. It still works as a truck too. All of my trucks, over the last 25 years, have had caps. One should purchase what works for them and remember that looks are in the eye of the beholder.

i used to have a truck issued to me by work, which had a cap. I hated it. I hated when stuff rolled to the front and I had to crawl to the front to get it. I hated banging my head on it. I told my 5'5" boss that caps were for short guys. He still made me keep a cap becuase of what we used it for.

THAT said, it all depends on what you haul. If it is bulky, but will blow out, get a cap. Keep your stuff safe and locked down. I also think some of the newest caps, especially without windows, look cool.

I don't think age can be related to topper or not, when I was in my 20-30's I had one to transport my kids and camp out with etc, and now 20 years later, kids grown and making their own families I wouldn't kick a dead mule in the **** for a topper. I traded my suv in because I needed something I could fling a cord of wood into or anything that you can think of where an open bed shines.

It is a per person choice I think. More like a where your life is at right now need, and the versatility of the pickup truck in any configuration is what the owner makes of it.

Thus the perfect option for everyone.

I'm old, and I have a topper. (I was young once, and had a topper then too). If you hauls stuff that needs security and protection from the weather, a topper is nice. When you grow up, you can afford one.

I see a few trucks around with toppers an think they look pretty good. I don't need one and have a tonneau cover.
