Bed Storage: Bakbox vs Swingcase vs Others?
#22
I have had a pair of swing cases going on 2 years in the back of my truck. I love not having to open my tonneau cover to access them, easy enough to pop out if that extra space is ever needed.
Yes it is difficult to use the rear tie downs behind the cases if you do need to, but i fixed that problem with a set of retractable bull rings in all 4 stake pockets, very handy, and inexpensive.
The ease of access with swing cases, and not having to open the tonneau sold me on them

I'd rather be sailing.
Probably not an option for you but at least a thought. . . . .
I have the factory spray bed liner so I took a treated 2X6, cut it to fit, and use the supports in the bed. I sprayed it with liner and added tie points to it following another post here. Literally disappears in the bed.
It sits across the bed about a foot and half in. I took 3 cartons, similar to old milk cartons and bungee them to the back side of the 2X6. There I store stuff.
The 2X6 allows groceries, propane tanks, coolers, other small to medium sized items to sit in the back of the bed without sliding around.
The whole unit lifts out in about a second for use of the entire bed. No mods to the truck. Tie downs accessible.
Backflip covers it all.
just another option
The entire thing is cheap, looks good, no mods to my PU to use it, and comes out easy.
