This state is downright depressing for hills! The first 10 years of my life were back in the mountains, and it's just nowhere near the same here!

I just wish I could go do something like that, I gotta get over to western michigan. We come here every year for christmas (in michigan right now actually) and stay in Dearborn.

Okeechobee or however the hell it's spelled, it in the middle of absolute NOWHERE! Surrounded by sugar cane for as far as the eye can see. From Clewiston to West Palm it's just sugar plants, both sides of the highway, for at least 30 miles. I got a picture on my computer back home.

I for one, am really glad you don't call every little pond a lake like everyone around where I live does (Sarasota, basically). It's really....

Anyways, you do NOT want aggressive tires in sand. You need to float over sand, aggressive tires will just dig you in. I did better in sand with bald 235/75R15s than I do with my 31x10.50 A/Ts. You want tires that won't dig into the sand, so go as wide as you can, and get a more street oriented A/T than offroad (I have Wrangler Authority's, they could pass as mud tires if they had just slightly bigger voids) A/T. BFG Radial Long Trail T/As are what I've done best on sand with. None of this was aired down either, so I can't comment on how much better that will make any of this work.

Then you gotta know where not to stop too. If you can find somewhere with a plant or some grass to stop on, go there!

That's all I got! I'm in Florida too, all the sand around here is kinda a buzzkill haha there's no mud!
I remember years ago in one of the off road magazines, they mounted 4 Mickey Thompson Sportsman (street legal drag tires) on a Jeep to play in the sand.
Said they were the best sand tires they ever ran.

Big,wide and soft and simply floated over every thing.

I love how sand is so backwards from mud You wouldn't happen to have a link to the online version of that article would you? Sounds interesting

It was in an old 4 Wheeler, or 4 wheel and Off Road magazine. They installed 4 Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro tires, something like 31x18 wide, and went anywhere with them. With the soft sidewalls, and huge footprint, they were perfect for rigs without the high horsepower to turn paddle tires.
The tight tread pattern kept them from digging themselves holes.

I'll try to dig it up online. It's very interesting.

To the OP, lower the air pressure on all four corners to 10-15 psi and drive smoothly. Make sure to bring along a portable air compressor. Driving for any extended length on pavement with 15psi reeks havoc on tires.

Here is a link to a company that runs tours of the dunes at Silver lake Mi. Have a look around the site and even watch some of the videos. Pay attention to how the tour driver operates his vehicle. The truck tires are simply fat with no aggressive thread. I have run from factory stock all the way to Mud Tires in the Sand. They all performed about the same. The key was to find the right tire pressure. The ORV section of the Dunes have sines everywhere telling you to lower your tire pressure to 15psi. Must be a reason for that.

You could try some airplane or Jet Tires too, used, for high flotation.
