That will help.
I've heard this as well. I grew up being told to leave the vents 'open' and in the 'natural outside air' setting. Dunno how true this is in today's modern automatic climate systems though.

I always have it set for fresh outside air and NOT recirculated air. First year not a smell, now on month 15 and 8,000 miles it stinks for couple of minutes. So your telling me you should turn the heat on high to dry out the vents when finish using the air. Yeah the last thing I want to do is sit in a $40k truck in 90 plus degree heat with the heat on! As for mold, if it has mold then that could be a whole another health issue just like in a home. Ummm.......does Ford have deep pockets, still?

You hit right on the head this pass January my truck was 12 month old I start to smell this around April May bc we start to use the ac. I wish I had 8,000 miles tho I'm pushing 20,000 miles and if there is mold I'll be pissed.

Mine is going into the dealer for a oil change and I told them about the smell. Just as a precaution, I am doing a airborne mold self test myself first. But there is no established level of airborne mold that is accepted as unsafe for the general population in the legal aspect.
I will see how the dealership handles the situation first. Don't want to shake up the hornets nest quite yet, I must see the corrective actions or lack of actions first.

When I accelerate it smells more like burned plastic, been doing this since the day I drove the truck home when it was brand new. I had it under coated and assumed they got some on the exhaust but 36000 miles later it's still there Dealer has looked at it but can't figure it out.

A lot of guys are complaining about a barnyard smell, musty smell Bandaid smell mine is different it's a burn't plastic smell normally I smell when I'm on the throttle and sometimes when I coast to a stop there is a couple of threads on this. I had the dealer check for a coolant leak today. They did not find a leak. It doe's it when AC max is on and recirculating so it has to be coming from AC housing.
