Talking Back to the F150

I've been a member here since the first year of the Ecoboost 3.5L F150. Bought my Lariat new in early 2011 and owed it until 2015. It had the timing chain stretch issue which was covered under warranty but after my warranty was up I traded it in. Had a few different vehicles after that and ended up with a 2016 CS/GT Mustang 5.0. I loved that car but I preferred not to drive it in the winter and it was a summer only car for me. I decided I wanted back into an F150 since it got a lot more use for my family and I. I have been searching for the last 2 months going back in forth between new, used, 3.5l or 5.0....etc. The normal brain racking decisions for anyone who over thinks things like me. lol So I finally pulled the trigger on a truck I found in my area. 2017 Lariat with the 5.0 and 3.73 gears. It also has every option I personally wanted. I can tell you it was a hard find with the 3.73s which was one of my big requirements since I tow and will more than likely lift this truck as I did with my last one. So anyway here are a couple of pics and if anyone can recommend a good sounding exhaust that isn't obnoxious sounding for daily driving... much appreciated.

Welcome back, nice looking truck. The Borla Touring exhaust sounds great on a 5.0.

I've run Magnaflow on all my V8 equipped vehicles for the past 20+ years and have no complaints at all. A catback kit from them is only slightly louder than stock. Well known for being the mildest system around.

Welcome back, nice looking truck. The Borla Touring exhaust sounds great on a 5.0.

That truck, with your options and the 3.73 = a big win. I am envious. Congrats.

Buy once, cry once. There's no substitution for quality: buy Borla. The Touring has a larger resonator which is key to what you're looking for... a good sounding exhaust that isn't obnoxious for daily driving.

Borla X2, if you want some good sounds a little louder than stock, the SType is a good choice. And zero drone. I've that system on both a 5.0, and 3.5 Ego.

Thanks everyone! After doing some more research on the exhaust I ended up ordering a Magnaflow 12249 muffler to swap with the factory muffler and I may pull the resonator out if it's too quiet for my taste. Seems a better route than spending all that money on a catback just for a little more noise.

On another topic, my 2011 I had a bakflip cover and bedrug which was nice for a few years but the bakflip did get beat up looking over time (mainly the rubber and rusty hardware). This truck has a dealer installed spray in bed liner. So I think this time around I might just go with a simple roll-up cover that isn't too expensive. Mainly for water protection when going on a family trip. I don't have a high need for security of locking things up inside the bed. Anyone running a good soft cover? I was looking at the Gator products... any good? Thoughts?

I've got a Truxedo LoPro QT on the 150. Same one I Had on my olde '12. Top quality, lifetime warranty, no flopping around. Just treat it with 303 Aerospace a few times a year. I'd buy another in a heartbeat for another truck.

Please post up what you think of the Magnaflow after you've installed it.

Thanks,
