Touchless always. During winter I do as much as once a week self service for around 2.50-3.00. Just to quickly rinse off all the sludge and salt.

I wash by hand during the summer and go thru the car wash in the winter. Too cold to deal with hand washing then plus the drive thru wash does a good job of getting all of the salt off.

I pretty much do the same.

Hand wash from April - November, then touch less carwashes after that. My truck is black, so it would never see a touch wash. I also wax the truck in May, and again in October. Two coats.

Yes, they are that terrible. You should see my 2012 Durango. I've had it for 6 months and the previous owner used automatic car washes exclusively. The kind with the brushes. The paint looks horrid. It's going to take me a solid 2 days to clay, cut and buff it. Former detailer here too

I try to hand wash even in the winter. I went so far as to install a outdoor spigot that has hot water.

.

I've often wondered if that would be possible, or practical. Good to know, no frozen hands!

Last year a jeep dealer had to repaint the entire drivers side of my jeep...got scratched bad in the wash.
My 150 saw a dealers wash 1 time...that was during dealer prep when I was signing papers. Upon delivery they presented my new truck with a thru the clearcoat scratch that their detail guy tried to use rubbing compound to get it out...had it repainted.
It will be the last time it sees anything but touchless...
Like others I use the touch less then drive home and detail it

Don`t know if its common knowledge, but most automatic & even the DIY wand types have to capture & recycle most of the water being used. States like mine (PA) & Cal, Mass, ect. Have what are known as "Unreasonable use of water", or some other name laws. I suppose this is okay IF the owners change the filtering media regularly. I was at a UPS facility & their auto truck wash smelled like the Chicago stock yards because they did not change the media. I don`t use commercial car washes because (for Me) I`m just not a fan of the recycled water part. YMMV

It is a frost proof one. Paid about 120 for it and installed it myself. My house has a basement and vinyl siding so it wasn't to big of job.
