Auto start/stop system

Has anyone had issues with the auto stop/start system thinking about trading my 16 duramax for 18 f150 was wanted to know more about this feature

It's the only disliked feature of my truck. It can be defeated several ways or just by pressing the button on the dash to turn it off every time you start the truck.

There are many threads on this topic. Some like it, some hate it. Some disable it permanently, some simply push the button when they want to disable it. The truck is designed to start/stop, with components beefed up to handle it.

The bad, stupid idea, not needed. The good, some components would have to have been engineered to me more HD so when you disable the worthless feature those components should last longer than the regular ones.

I like it when I'm sitting at long stop lights. I don't like it when it accidentally kicks on at something like a stop sign or when I am pulling up to exit a parking lot where I'll only be briefly stopped. Sometimes the engine is literally still shutting down when I have to restart it again to move.

Its definitely not worthless, but it does need to be implemented a bit better. I'm not sure how exactly, but its not my job to design it. Things like the power steering not working for the first second or two on restart can be a bit unsafe. I think I would like it on a hybrid car where I have electric power steering and during light acceleration from stop it is using the electric motors, then the engine kick in when you are already moving.

I wouldn't base my decision on whether or not to purchase a vehicle on if it has start/stop or not. I mean, if you don't like it then just turn it off.

The push button to disable ASS(Automatic Stop Start) is better than nothing but with my Jeep GC i always forget and get reminded no surprised at the first stop to disable that dam so called #%&'n feature thing POS.
Luckily my '16 XLT doesn't have the ASSocalled feature.

I just purchased on back in October and I have to say there are very few times where I have hated having the auto start/stop. I think it's a smart system and in a couple years will be a lot better. They say after 7 second of idling it is saving you fuel. I personally do not know how true that is. I don't think it should be the reason you wouldn't buy a Ford.

I have a 2016 and I hate the ass.

I've been driving an F150 with Auto start/stop for over 2-1/2 years and 140K mi. now. You get used to it and it's no big deal. When I am sitting in traffic or stuck at a long light I'm glad that the engine is off and saving gas.
