Default Auto start/stop

Any thoughts on this auto start/stop technology in the newer trucks, will the starter go out sooner or did they build them heavy duty to withstand the constant start/stop ?
Those of you that have it do you turn it off or leave it on ?
I've always thought the sheer fact of starting a vehicle uses more fuel than if you just let it running, is this true ? if it is then the start/stop would defeat the purpose of saving fuel.

It improves fuel economy. I disabled mine with FORScan.

This guy explains fuel consumption at idle very well.

Regardless of any savings, my wife and I absolutely hate it in our 18 Durango. Rarely are we stopped the seven seconds needed to make it "worth it".

If you have the patience, you can get used to it. I barely notice it any more.

Greenz
Thank you for posting that video, that was very informative !
I guess I'm one of those that was wrong about fuel consumption to start a vehicle.
Just great, now I'm going to be counting seconds at stop lights to see if it's worth leaving the auto start/stop on or turn it off

Many threads on this. Saves gas, components designed for it, "this is America I don't want this crap", pushing a button is too hard,...

That sums it up.

I never said " I don't want this technology "
I was just questioning about it, since I had no knowledge of it & fuel consumption. Yes I do know you can just push the button to turn it off.

Ford designed the starter and associated bits to be able to handle the repeated on off cycling.

Forgive me for butting in, but how does this work when the AC is on and you're stopped? Does the engine remain on to drive the compressor when it cycles?

The fan slows a speed or two. If the cabin temp gets too hot engine will start while foot still on brake. Mine has.
