Default Auto-Off-On Causing LED Flicker

I thought of posting this in the Lighting forum, but hoped the bigger forum crowd here might have an answer or idea.

I installed a set of Alla LEDs in my 2020 STX Screw yesterday. Easy installation, everything works great, and the lights are a big improvement, as expected. But I stumbled on a somewhat significant issue.

While out testing the lighting on a drive last evening, I noted that when I stopped the truck and the Auto-Off-On power-down feature kicked in, the LEDs would flicker strongly when the brake is released and the engine powered back to full. Under no other normal operation (braking, slowing, accelerating) did the lights do this. I realized it as I drove and tested it out by disabling the Auto-Off-On with the dash control. Sure enough, the issue went away on it was turned off.

Of course, the drawback to the Auto-Off-On system is that it's always on with every start unless you explicitly disable it, which is kind of a pain to have to keep doing.

On another site, someone told me that Ford's OEM LED lights had some capacitance built into the ballasts that prevents this from occurring. I know there are resistor cables that can be added to LED setups to prevent flickering (Alla has these available). So I'm not certain which way one would go on this. I could see the capacitor allowing the full charge to remain on the bulb circuit to prevent the drop from occurring. I could also see how adding a resistor into the circuit might help prevent this.

I wanted to post this to see if anyone else had experienced this problem and what you may have done to correct it.

Thanks in advance.

If you're also interested in disabling the *** system, kill two birds with one stone. Won't need the resistor cables or whatever. "Auto Stop Start Eliminator".

Thanks for pointing this out. That looks like the perfect solution.

Cheers, mate.
