that's exactly what I was Affraid was going to happen to this lady. You would know better than I but isn't it the conical section of the lug nut sitting in the conical section of the wheel that holds it tight or is it mainly to hold the wheel centered on the hub? Or both?

Depends on if the wheel is lug or hub-centric. Could be both I suppose.

No problem re-fresh! I would have never given it any thought either but when I got my wheels at Discount Tire, they suggested it! Glad they did! Pass it on to all your buddies, whatever they drive!

Mine wouldn't do me any good, but they may help someone else. The O.D. of my OEM lug nuts is too big to fit my aftermarket wheels.

In all fairness this really won't make any difference so long as the aftermarket wheel has conical lug seats like OEM, Mike just happen to run up on someone with cheapass aftermarket wheels/shank lugs. Quality AM wheels will have the conical seat just like OEM.

If everyone want's to carry a supply of parts for someone else to use, more power to them. I won't and I made sure I bought quality AM wheels to avoid this type of issue.

My OEM lugs are probably just like yours, large shoulder that serves no purpose other than to keep someone from stealing the center cap. No use to me either.
