packplantpath - Why would you care if she is getting tuition covered and a stipend? I don't know about social sciences but grad students are often compensated with a meager stipend and tuition reimbursement in my field. Mine was certainly paid for.

If I were female I'd help you out op. I've been through grad school and it is stressful. But I had the good sense to stop at a masters before I lost my mind!
OLDPHD ... in my past life, wrote car commercials for Buick and GMC truck. I am pursuing a PhD because it allows me to research and publish on a topic that is of particular importance to me.
Reading - The lost art. *Guess ya shoulda kept-on with that masters, eh?

I think we should cover writing first. I've read what you and I wrote several times and something doesn't say what you think it says. Unless you are inferring more from what she wrote than I am, which could explain some confusion.

But I've been accused of being a bit obtuse before too.

Dunno why this needs a dissertation; it's blatantly obvious why husband's are getting minivans and girls are opting for a vehicle with cajones.

If OLDPHD was a dude however, he would be getting ripped into and nobody would care.

I'm glad OP gave some clarification, seems like there's actually some benefit to this research. Hell, it's probably better than a person who writes a thesis over the mating habits of the oft-forgotten Vietnamese spotted horny toad.

The benefit is that armed with anecdotal stories as well as statistical research on how women perceive trucks, being truck drivers, and the use of trucks Chris will be able to turn it into marketing gold.

Many humanities bestsellers begin as PhD thesis. They also become multi million or billion dollar ideas that are turned into products. With this research Madison Avenue could certainly be the final destination for the information. And they will gladly pay big money for that information. So Chris, in the vernacular of my southern people, you go girl!

They're still here it's just some folks tire of handouts to panhandlers ESPECIALLY when they make more.

Time and info worth money? You don't say! I didnt buy my Platinum and Cadillac and other Ford's without knowing a little something about that

I would not consider this situation a hand out. I do more for others than they do for me. I don't do it expecting something in return. Her getting her PhD and possibly making more money than you AND being a female seems to be the real issue.

Tim McGraw's I miss back when, listen to it a few times, you might change the way you feel about all this.

Op, if was a female I would help you, I don't really know any females that drive trucks. My wife likes and wanted us to get a truck because that's what she grew up knowing.

Good luck!

You should put this thread in General Discussion, somewhere where it may get more exposure.

I'd possibly be interested in participating. Can you give any more details about it OP? Is it just a one-time interview, how many questions, etc?
