Attention female truck owners!
My name is Chris Lezotte and I am currently a doctoral student in American Culture Studies at Bowling Green State University conducting research for my dissertation. The project focuses on women whose vehicle choices suggest they do not conform to prevailing assumptions regarding the “woman driver.” One of the automotive categories I am interested in is the pickup truck. If you are a female owner of a pickup truck and have about 30 minutes to spare, I would greatly appreciate your input. I believe the relationship between women and cars has not received enough attention in scholarship; my goal in this project is to uncover the voices and automotive experiences of women such as yourself who use and relate to motor vehicles in a variety of interesting and sometimes unexpected ways.
If you have an interest in contributing to this project, I will provide you with consent form, which outlines the project and assures confidentiality. As your participation will take the form of an interview, I will also ask you to indicate whether your preference for that interview is by phone or email. If you would like to participate in this project, or if would like additional information about it, please feel free to contact me via email at clezott@bgsu.edu.
Thank you and happy driving.

This is the new knowledge you hope to bring to the human race?
Have any auto OEMs expressed an interest in your work?
The most useless Ph.D thesis I've heard was a woman I met who was studying the dating habits of people that frequent nightclubs. I bet she is unemployed or teaching since nobody else would hire her.

Can you imagine being a parent and paying for that.....whewwwwww ...your on on the wrong forum. Women Trucker Magazine will probably help....I'm perfectly happy that the relationship between women and cars has not ignited any interest in scholarships....nor should it.

Why do they have do be Neanderthals? I hope he gets some help with his paper. What is he going to do with that degree? Unless you get a degree in engineering, accounting with your CPA, or a professional type degree. Your better off going to trade school. Liberal arts degrees are pretty much worthless.

Yes, let's lay into someone getting a PHD, that's more schooling than i have, and i guarantee more schooling than 99% of you guys have. Until you've been there, don't judge.

Yikes guys, the lady is getting an education and was completely courteous in asking for help. Why go bashing her goal of a PHD or intention to study stereotypes and gender role within American culture?
Don't see the value in it? That's your opinion, and a very misinformed one at that. There was not near enough information given to even begin to pass judgement on what she's doing. Either way, further education is hardly about the specifics and more about the practice. In this case conducting a study.
Good luck.
Edit: Made one minor change with OLDPHD's clarification! Haha but my statement remains the same, again I hope you get the info you need and am glad you chimed in.

I agree with this 100%
The first two replies were very ignorant in my opinion.
Good luck with your study, though I don't think there are that many female members here. Even fewer who will see this thread and commit 30 min to it. Hopefully I'm wrong though.
