As you can guess there are many different opinions on what year is the best F150 but the discussion is based on 6 basic guidelines:

arguably what is the best year f150 ever made.

Trucks are great for their purpose, but safety is my top concern. This is why IMO the 2004+ trucks are a huge step up from previous generations. The 2009+ trucks even more-so:

Like most of us old timers, I've had Chevy's, Dodge, and Fords in years past. Never owned a bad one, but each had strengths & maybe some things I didn't like.
Chevy's are "car\trucks" - ride good, look good, but beat on it and it'll make you walk.
Dodges are "monsters" - ride rough, looks aren't thier strength, and you can beat the heck out of them...but expect to work on them regularly.
Ford's have been "tweeners" in the past - look OK, ride OK, and hard workers for the most part.
Today's Fords are leaders of the pack - ride good, look good, and tough as you can get. Dodge diesel's also lead today's offerings for "rattlers".
With all this said, I'm partical to my 2010 F150 Screw. I wish Ford would get off thier duff's and offer a diesel F150. The Dodge is used for pulling the big horse trailer or hauling monster loads on the tandem.
Note that I didn't reference any non-American built truck. They're not trucks...

I beg to differ. I'd take a mid 70's truck with a 302 and a fmx, c4, or c6 transmission over todays electronics. Sure, todays trucks are more comfortable to drive and have more toys, but the older trucks were more reliable. The more electronics there is the more trouble they are. Just look at the posts on this forum, the new trucks are plagued with problems. JMO.

For me its my 2002 screw Lariat with the 5.4 it has 112,000 on it and is still running like new and looks the same ! and the ride and it handles great! I think that its the most streamlined Ford pickup ever built JMO !!

I love my 95. But id love to have a 79 with a 444 in it. Nothing but mechanics and no electronics. Easier to work on, and nothing but classic power. Back when the more cubic inches, the more chicks, now its like its the more cubic inches, the more people avoid you to get away from paying for gas(which i dont so unless they **** me off). But im still partial to my 95, its got the perfect blend of simplicity and comfort.

2009 or above. All of you guys afraid of electronics crack me up. They are no harder to fix than mechs. All you need is google and youtube. Nothing like a good looking, smooth riding, tough pick up with bells and whistles. I wish my 2010 SCrew had more, not less. I guess there is of course, a bit of a generation gap between me and most of the posters in this thread though. Not trying to be a wise acorn, but I guess people just tend to prefer what they grew up with.
