Default I just found the same

I just found something g like that on the driver side above the second door just past the raise area and moon roof. Mine is a 2016 F150 lariate I've only had it a week. Taking it in tmrw to have them look at it

It is not visible unless you get above the roof level. Has anyone else had similar problems with the new aluminum body? The vehicle was manufactured in January and has set in rain storms for about four months with all the items under the roof subject to rain and moisture. The dealer did tape over the hole when they inspected it.

Ford says that to correct the problem they must remove all the parts contiguous to the roof, cut the roof off, attach the new roof and then reinstall the moon roof, front and real windows, door gaskets and all the electronics and hardware installed in the roof. I believe the right thing to do is Ford should replace/buy back the vehicle. So far they have refused to do anything but make the repairs. I purchased the vehicle from Jim Kien Ford in Columbus Ohio and felt they would for sure support my efforts to have the vehicle replaced/repurchased but they have only supported Fords position to make the roof replacement. Any advise?

Thanks

Wow. How the hell does a defect like this make it outside of the factory doors?! Don't they do QC checks on EVERY vehicle? Or maybe they are just spot checking some vehicles every now and then.

Anybody "on the inside" of Ford production who can address my question above?

Default Definitely more wavy than steel trucks

I just left my Ford dealer. I had oil changed and recall on master cylinder on my 2013 F-150 taken care of. Yes, the aluminum bodies are wavy when viewed on an sharp angle. I looked at over 30 2016-17 f-150's and they all had the wavy areas in particular on the area just below the windows and on the upper angels portion of the bed. You can only see it on an angle between 5 and approx 30 degrees off of the viewed area. The service rep and sales rep had never seen the waviness until I pointed it out. Then everyone went to look at the new super duties. Same issue. I won't bother most people but it drives me nuts. I can see it on all f-150's as they drive by. I worked in a body shop through high school and we would have never turned out a truck with as wavy a panel as on the new trucks. We would have used filler and sanded until there was 0 visual difference. Hope Ford cares about this enough to eventually address this issue. With future production.

its amazing isnt it. one thing i hate about ford is how they they neglect QC because theyre too busy releasing all of this new crap as fast as they can. dollar signs in their eyes. And with the aluminum change over, i just KNEW there was gonna be some absurd crap happening. A 1 foot by quarter inch hole in the roof I would say falls under the absurd crap category and stuff like that and the wavy panels was why I planned on avoiding those trucks like the plague before they were even released. No regrets, lol.

ive seen this on a few (but not all) 09-14's well, mainly at the bottom of the tailgate all the way across. And i was driving next to a 13-14 Platinum yesterday and noticed a rare sight, extreme waviness in the same area you mentioned, around the mid-upper area of the side door. Usually they dont look like that. This one was tweaked. My 13 has the bottom of the tailgate waviness but nothing on the sides of the truck.

I am assuming you are talking about on the bed sides u can see vertical lines running down the side of truck bed?
Can only be visible if you look at it from a angle... (In my case i was standing by the front fender area, tilting my head at a angle to be able to see it)?

Ah well, that makes me feel better.
I almost thought my F150 is defective from factory or something....
Or it had some sort of repair history from the dealer lot.

Because when i took delivery last week, i found out my brand new truck has a chipped windshield by the driver side lower corner, a whole chunk was missing....
Not bad enough where it leaks, dealer offer me a new windshield obviously.
But stil sucks that it has such a damage being new.
I want to say it was like that from the Ford plant, as there was no paint damage or any sort by the pillar.
