We saw our first pronghorn antelope on the way to Kadoka, South Dakota. I won the prize for spotting them first. Only drove 529 miles total for the day because we couldn't get a motel in Rapid City for less then $125 a day. So we stayed in a nice little motel in Kadoka.

Will be leaving early today for Great Falls Montana. Hope to have more photos on my next post.
Looking forward to seeing the pics...I had the pleasure of going to Alaska back in 1973...stayed at the Elmendorf AFB Inn in Anchorage!!

We are now in Hinton, Alberta. Had a great trip from Camnore Alberta through Banff National Park. The scenery is fabulous and the truck performed great. In fact despite driving through the mountains, up to 6500 feet, our last tank has averaged 20.6. We are now burning Canadian gasoline at over $4.50 per gallon. Is Canadian gasoline better then American?

On the 56 mile drive from Jasper to Hinton, we saw two huge bull elk feeding right on the highway. Got lots of photos. Then a few miles further down the road, we saw seven Big Horn Sheep right beside the road. One nearly got run over by a semi.

Be heading for Prince George today and then up highway 16 to Highway 37 on our way to the Alaska Highway. This is a long way on some very lonely roads.

If you were hunting elk or bighorn sheep, you wouldn't see a one. Nice pics!

We averaged 20.5 on the tank of gasoline we burned today. Same thing yesterday. We have a topper on, 4 passengers, a heavy load of luggage and equipment and are driving some hilly areas. I could barely average 20 with only 2 passengers, no topper and empty. Except for the first tank most of the tanks across the U.S. were barely 18 mpg.

Is Canadian gasoline better? Does it have no ethanol. It should be for $4.50 a gallon but I have really noticed better mileage since we started using Canadian gasoline.

I think Canada uses Imperial gallon's...think it's a little less than a US gallon.

This is from the calculator on the truck and from my wife calculating how many U.S. gallons from the Canadian gallons. Both came out nearly the same. The truck doesn't know it is getting Canadian gallons. It still figures U.S. gallons in its calculating the mileage.

Best thing about gas being so expensive in Alberta is that we produce it here lol. It's pretty cheap in Alberta compared to Saskatchewan or BC.
I can almost guarantee I passed you on the highway today. I was on highway 43 all day. Hope you weren't speeding or I may have harassed you.
Hope your trip is going great. You couldn't have a better vehicle to make this trip.

I don't think I was speeding. I drive for mileage and usually drive below the speed limit unless I am holding someone up or unless I miss a sign. I don't remember seeing a single law officer the last two days in Canada.
