Default air and exhaust questions

Just purchased a 2000 f150 extracab 4 dr. Bone stock but would like to add a different exhaust, add some sound! and a different air intake system.May later add bigger tires (275 instead of 245's) It will just be dailey driver so no major mods planned. Looking for some suggestions on good combinations that work. Thanks

Don't waste your money on an intake, you really won't see any improvements but if you still wanna do the gotts mod and a k&n filter. You won't see much at all but it'll be the same as an aftermarket unit. As far as exhaust our mod motors sound awesome with a mild to aggressive muffler. Don't gut your cats an straight pipe it like kids do, it sounds terrible. What's your budget for exhaust?

I added an Volant air intake and have noticed some gains in MPGs plus it makes the engine sound a little meaner

Getting rid of ur cats doesn't sound bad I did it and love the sound, not frappy like a cherry bomb. I have Roush off-road rear exit exhaust and it sounds awesome. Same motor

For exhaust just gut the cats, then throw on whatever muffler you want. It'll sound great. As for intakes, on a stock motor, their practically useless. For looks more than anything, you'll get all of 4 hp from it..

It's true they market them saying 15 hp but u don't really notice it on a daily driver until u hit high RPM. BUT it will make more engine noise when stomping on it. I had a 2002 mustang only a V6 ( I was young) with a cold air intake and it made it much louder when stomping on it. I've got the K&N CIA and noticed the sound on my stock 5.4 (was my first mod)
