Aftermarket heated seats

Aftermarket heated seats
My XLT cloth seats do not have factory heat.
Are the aftermarket heated seats better than OEM?
If OEM, who has the best deal? Tasca, Ford accessories or ....?
Which aftermarket brand is recommended in order to avoid dead on arrival/quit after a year China junk?
Are there any plug and play connectors under the seat already?
Has anyone done a video or step by step Pictures for installation?

What year truck? As far as I know, nothing OEM can be swapped in, you would need to have an upholstery shop install and aftermarket kit or do it yourself. The other trims that have OEM heated seats also have different HVAC modules behind the dash, extra connectors/pins on the wiring harnesses, and separate modules controlling the seats.I tried retrofitting OEM heated seats pads in my 13 XLT and was not successful after building a custom wiring harness and trying several different HVAC modules with different programming.

Agree with Nerdh3rd. It is just easier to spend the extra money and get the truck that already comes with heated seats. However you can always try one of these I found on Amazon. I bet it will blend in nicely if you have a dark interior cloth seats.

Somewhere on this forum is a thread about installing dorman type elements. A google search of "vehicle heated seat elements" turns up a bunch of hits. You install the elements between the factory cover and the pads so being handy at upholstery would be helpful. This would be the cheapest way to go if you want them hidden.

You can get a set of seat heaters for less than 100 on Amazon. I am putting them in next summer. My friend did his wife's car and said it's easy just takes time to get the seat covers on and off.

Sure would be a bummer to be some of those reviewers that bought amazon or ebay and found out they got a bad heater and have to take the covers all, apart again
