Default Advice on used F150

Hey guys, been looking for a while for a used truck and found one with all options I want. 2015 Ford F150 4x4 with 3.31 V8 5.0 SCrew. The truck is being sold as Ford certified in Florida. However, the Carfax states it was used as a commercial vehicle for 1.5 years in Ontario right from the factory. It has 14k miles on it. I'm going to have them give me the engine hours to verify it doesn't have an outrageous number. Besides really crawling under there with a headlight looking for rust, anything else I should inspect and would anyone not buy it because it's history?

Thank you!

History would not bother me . Some commercial entities have serious maintenance procedures. My concern is where it is coming from. I would wait until some of our friends from the north to chime in.

If all turns good, buy an extended warranty at minimum.

Thank you, the certified pre own program comes with a 7 year 100k power train warranty through Ford so that makes me feel better.

IMO, its there for a reason. While it comes with a power train ONLY program, I still would look at expanding that coverage to the full coverage.

If you are going to crawl under it, check out the leaf springs and rear axle. Those are two places where rust likes to start. Check out the frame. Typically these trucks come from the factory with some form of undercoating to protect it from the elements. Being a 2015, and only having 14k miles on it, i wouldn't be too worried. See if you can find the original sold date. Could have been left over stock purchased in 2016 which means it really only has 1 winter under its belt.

if its a good price, snag it. If you are worried about rust forming, bring it to a shop and have it undercoated. Being in the south you shouldn't have to worry about it rusting after one good undercoating.

Thanks, I'll definitely crawl under and pay attention to those areas. So it has 960 hrs and 14447 hrs. Little higher then I was wanting but expected due to commercial use. Comes out to about 15mph.

Would anyone know how many hours their current f150 has? 960 on a 2015 does seem high. My 2015 Chevy with 12000 miles only has 330 hrs.

Appreciate your help.

I read an article after your post this morning that indicated those hours MAY be influenced with the key on, and no engine running. Someone would need to verify.

I would like to know how to check my 13.

5.0, Screw, 4X4 is fine, but the 3.31 gears would be a deal killer for me. The 5.0 needs at least 3.55 gears, especially when combined with the heavier cab and the larger tires on 4X4's.

On a 4X2 regular cab or with the 3.5 with it's greater torque 3.31's wouldn't be bad.
