adding leather to xlt

im looking to get a new f150 in the next month or so. i would like to stay with the xlt model but want leather seats. i see no option for leather w/ the xlt and a couple dealers i've talked to say they have a company that puts in leather seats. we havent talked price yet though. i have no other reason to move up to the lariat except the leather seats. im wondering if it's worth it and if anyone else has done this?

You should be able to add Katzkins for somewhere around $1000-$1300 if you pay someone to do the install. Kits on eBay seem to be about $550-600 assuming you just want standard Katzkins. Supposedly, quality is better than factory leather. I was in the same boat as you, and simply couldn’t justify the cost jump to the Lariat since the only the thing extra I really wanted was leather (LED head lights too, but still not worth it for the price jump). Thing is that I’ve really started to like my black sport cloth, so I’m not sure I’m going to install leather!

I have no regrets on Katzkins! One of my most favorite mods.

i personally dont mind the cloth seats but we have a golden retriever that rides with me fairly often. the cloth catches all his hair and makes keeping it clean almost impossible. some of the XLT's i've looked at have the heated cloth seats. would the Katskins have any effect on that?

thanks to this forum i realized that the LED headlights only come on certain lariat packages. i was def disappointed .

Katzkins are supposed to work perfectly well with the OEM seat heaters.

I would be more afraid of the dogs claws tearing up the seats.

With the the internet net now go to auto recycling. They part out practically brand new parts from totaled vehicles. Just pick up the whole seats front and back and bolt in. Any F150 above a XLT will have leather. Then just sell yours to recoup some of the cost. It is really not that much more .

But with that said, XLT is cloth is cover in that wet suit material called neoprene. Awesome stuff, I just replace the driver seat cover every other year since that one is used the most. The pass and rear is 5 years old already. If I recall right the company starts with C something like Cork........

i keep the back seat folded up when he is in the truck. no way he is getting up on the seats. but the hair still gets everywhere and its like it sticks to the cloth. i will have weathertech floormats so will have very little carpet to clean. i looked at the Katskins earlier. they look pretty good. im sure thats who the local dealer uses.

Don't forget the seats have air bags. Chances are good the truck is totaled the bags went off which spoils the seats. Katzkins are a great option that won't break the bank, if you're handy you can do them yourself.
