Default Adding leather good for resale?

Hello all.

I own a 2018 Ford F-150 XLT Sport and I love it. However, I've been thinking about adding leather seats to it through Katzkin.

Does anyone know if adding leather to my truck will up its resale value as much as the cost of having the leather installed? Does it matter if I get a more custom leather seat design instead of generic black? It will cost $1,000-1,500 to get leather seats added by Katzkin.

I always look for good cloth upholstery in vehicles I buy, and in JYs to swap into vehicle with ratty, nasty, uncomfortable leather.

Nothing you add to the truck will add to its book value. If the one buyer interested in it when you put it up for sale wanted exactly that modification, you'll make a little on top of book.... Maybe.

I'd pass on any vehicle with leather.

If you find the right buyer they might pay a tad more for leather in an XLT. But it won't come close to recouping the amount it'll cost to install.

If you personally want leather and think you'll enjoy it, add it. I've always taken the mindset that it's my vehicle and I'm going to enjoy it as I see fit while I own it, resale value be damned.

Everyone has already said it, no value add. I think this is especially true for third party additions. Factory leather might add value but I’m of the opinion it does that because of the other upgrades usually included in a package that includes leather.

It won't up the resale value at all??? I'd think it will at least some even if it's less than the actual cost of adding it. Am I wrong?

What is it you don't like about leather?
More than the feel, I like that I could customize it and make it look the way I want. Plus, leather doesn't absorb and retain smells like cloth.
