For those with IDS. Grasping at straws a bit but wondering if the IDS sets one of the values we could set with FORSCAN in order to trigger the calibration mode. Would it be possible to do a module backup, trigger the calibration and then do another backup so we could figure out what that value is? Sorry if a stupid question but would be awesome if didn't even need forscan for calibration!
You need IDS to do a horizontal alignment of the C-CM.
The horizontal alignment for the CCM is a software calibration that checks that the radar is pointed
straight. No manual adjustment is needed for this procedure. The scan tool calibrates the CCM through the CCM
procedure in programmable parameters.

Definitely not picking a fight but what does the IDS actually write/trigger to do the calibration mode? i saw someone(i think you!) post that you initiate the calibration with IDS then drive for 20 mins or so. If it is just to initialize the calibration I would think that it is just another value to change.

It needs to be done each time to adjust what the C-CM "sees" as pointed straight ahead. Each time it is disturbed, straight ahead changes, even a small fraction could get you something like slamming the brakes on with adjacent cars or not getting a good lock on the one in front of you.

I've edited while you were typing. The quote is from the service manual. If it doesn't "see" the horizontal calibration procedure was done, it disables the cruise. There is no value accessible to forscan that can be changed. In a nutshell, forscan can change the module configuration, but not the calibration.
It needs to be done each time to adjust what the C-CM "sees" as pointed straight ahead. Each time it is disturbed, straight ahead changes, even a small fraction could get you something like slamming the brakes on with adjacent cars or not getting a good lock on the one in front of you.

Does the IDS need to be connected during the calibration drive? I have become curious on what tickles the modules to know they are supposed to be in calibration mode. Even after all your very helpful posts I still think there is a module that gets set to activate the calibration.

The C-CM is the module that "gets set" during calibration. It's not in the asbuilt lines. You're welcome to look in Forscan all you would like. The calibration isn't there.
I wish it could be done in Forscan. But it can't. You need IDS, or someone with it.
That's all I have to say on it because that's all there is to say.

Yes, IDs is hooked up while calibrating. You intiate the Cal via IDs and then drive. You have to acknowledge you received the proper message on the message center in IDs once it's done. Then you can disconnect the vcmII and/or shut the truck off.

All parts arrived and I started into the project. Got the steering wheel installed which is very easy following the instructions in the manual. There is also a thread on F150 on doing it.
Went to tackle the the bumper removal and had to stop because I would have run out of daylight. Going to rain the next couple of days so it looks like next weekend I will be able to get after installing all of the hardware.... I realize I do not have any cruise at the moment, which sucks - so I will get back after this as soon as I can.

use forscan to Re program your left steering wheel buttons with ford ford standard cruise, the logos will be wrong but it will function as standard cruise until you can get finished

Got all the hardware installed - and made a couple of mistakes along the way.... Will make a video of what I did tomorrow when the light returns and will post a link.
Next up is aligning/leveling the sensor, editing code and finally calibrating. For now, I am getting the DTC for collision warning not present (which is a good sign.)
Boy I want to rip everything apart and do a couple of things over.... the OCD in me will bleed off with sleep, thankfully!
