I've heard about turning a AC compressor into air compressor is there a way to do it on these trucks?

My uncle is a engineer he's done it on several trucks... Don't exactly understand how... He has s pressure regulation valve that keeps it at a certain PSI, a few parts from a frigerator, and a few parts from an actual air compressor... He did not use his ac compressor.. He mounted another one... He's explained it to me 4 times.. My brain has yet to process it... lol

I could understand if you didn't use the ac but even then why would you want to do that or even try to? Your better off just getting a air compressor and let it do it's thing instead of monkey rigging the compressor to do an air compressor job.

From what I hear its not that hard and its run from the belt and not electric and will not take up as much space

We were taught how to do it in high school auto shop(180 years ago), and it doesn't make any more sense to me now as it did back then.
Running a compressor off a belt robs power and fuel. A simple Viair compressor will mount under your rear seat(s), a tank will fit next to it, and it won't take 1/10th the power or fuel to run it as an AC compressor does. Not to mention using the AC compressor would necessitate running air lines either back into your cab, or under the truck(usually in the rear) if you plan on using a tank with it.
I'm not an engineer however, but either way, I LIKE my AC nice and cold thankyouverymuch.

Because you can do it for about $30 or less with the stuff you have laying around....

This was a popular mod for Jeeps so you try searching for it under jeep stuff. I'm also sure it puts out more psi than the electric viair units.

I have a viair on my jeep but no tank and it takes forever to air up from 10 psi to 30 psi. I'm sure with a tank performance would be better.
