Is 70k+ miles too many?

Just bought a 2015 F150 XLT Sport 4X4 Screw with 5.0 liter, auto, HD towing package, 3.73 locker, Silver Ingot and in beautiful condition. A few paint chips but not 1 dent. 76K miles. $26,500 and over 2 grand under NADA. Just added Gator soft fold up tonneau, Husky liners and mudguards. You can tell if a rig's been taken care of. Great truck.

I would say shop a little more and be willing to travel to pick it up. Last week I bought a 2015 with 5.0, 4x4 w FX4 package 39,000 miles for $28,300. I did everything over the phone and online so all I had to do when I got there was check it out and sign papers...10 hours on the road but worth it IMO.

My 2015 XLT SCrew 4x4 with a 3.5L EB with 302A option package is doing fine at 78+K miles. I have no plans to get rid of it anytime soon. A truck of that vintage with 70K miles almost has to have been driven on the highway a lot. Those are easy miles. A check of the suspension and undercarriage would tell you otherwise if that weren't the case.

I'd look at it like this... if you have cash to pay for it then I would not be scared of just the odometer reading, so if its well maintained then go for it. However, if its in the high 70's and your gonna take out a loan to pay for it then you need to figure out how many miles your going to have on it when its finally paid off. Getting something with that many miles on it will mean its going to need maintenance items and service items and that might wind up costing you more and if you plan on driving a lot then you might have a worn out truck at the end of your loan. May not be a big deal really, just keep that in the back of your head.
"Mostly Highway miles" is a lot like "it was owned by a little old lady that only drove it to church on Sundays". Unless you can have some proof of the claim, its just story and as far as you know could have been running a hot shot delivery service driven by some kid that like to floor it everywhere he went.

It seems I may have upped my standards a bit. Now I’m looking for a 2016+ in the $30-35k range, with less than 40k miles. I know they are few and far between for that price, but I’m patient. I am in the process of building my house, so this truck will definitely come in handy for that. Eventually, I will be pulling a 5-7k lb travel trailer, so should I consider a 2.7L EcoBoost, with towing package, or could I get away with the 3.5L EcoBoost without the towing package?
