$600+ service bill at the dealership
Just handed Ford the keys to my 07 5.4 fx2. It was missing and had almost no power at all. They said they need to clean the injectors and change the plugs then they would drive it again and make sure the coils are not bad too. Before they even started my bill is at $600 and I HOPE it does not get worse. They also told me one of my CATS was busted and they wanted freakin $1300 (retarded price) to fix it. I believe I'm ganna just gut it and weld it back up if research tells me it will not cause a problem.

change the plugs is typically $300 in the dealer.... clean injectors... i hope they are refering to removing the injectors, and perform an ultrasonic cleaning of the removed injectors... not just to adding sea foam in the gas tank...

I'm spending $1500 at the shop because one of my spark plugs broke and is stuck. Even with the removal tool, he couldn't get it out. Taking the motor apart tonight and help him. See if he will cut down on some of the labor costs if I help.

I took my '02 to my mechanic who has pretty good rates. Told him that I just got the truck. Said to go through it, change the plugs and check for anything else it may need (77,000 miles).
New plugs (none broke), checked all the fulids, looked over the truck and replaced the sway bar links for $450.

I haven't had my Ford long enough to dealer experiences but I was dissatisfied with the service the Toyota dealership where I bought may last truck. There is a shop in town that has done just about everything that has been done to that truck. The cost was about half of the dealership. They did good work.
I know a couple of the mechanics there and I always ask for one of them.
