Default 5.0 or Eco 3.5

I am about to buy my first F150 (first truck ever), however I am not sure which one is better. The 3.5 Eco or the V8 5.0. I am buying this truck till the day I die. I would like to know which one is better for longevity and cheaper maintenance cost.

It is everyday driving work and home and work around the house, I do not see my self towing anything heavy.

Thank You

Just traded my ecoboost on a 5.0. Too many issues with the ecoboost. Intercooler, plugs, cam phasers etc. 5.0 has been around for years and proven. plus i gained 2mpg so far on my 5.0 vs ecoboost

Your gonna get a million different answers. For just a dd, why not a 2.7 or 3.5 na for mileage? I got a 5.0 for hopefully lower costs for repairs and occasionally towing, if I towed a lot it would've been 3.5 eco. Do you plan on moding for performance then eco all day it's cheap to make a huge difference with just a tune. But then longevity then comes in to question. Good luck

Honestly, it's a toss up. If I was planning to keep it till I died, I'd get the 5.0. But I'd wait till the 18's come out in a few months with the 10 speed trans.

Both are great engines, and the Eco's actually have more low end power.

Find the truck in the color you want with all the options you want and price you want...and accept whatever engine is under the hood.

I am more interested in keeping it long term. I understand the simplicity of V8 then 3.5 ECO. Is there any common issue with 3.5 ECO I should know ?

Sorry if it was asked a number of times, however I am getting it tomorrow. Did not had enough time to search a number of forms in one day.

Thank you all for the advise.

Can't go wrong man. It's an F150. Both great power plants. 3.5 is the premium engine and is proven, 5.0 is a beast and proven.

I have a 2.7 and it's a beast but brand new tech. 2018 3.5 will be built with a CGI block (stuff they make diesels and race car motors with)

Have fun..
