Don't mean to be a d**k but if 2 miles really is a big deal for you, then don't buy a truck. Ford has always been a gas guzzler. And I know, 2 mpg does make a difference in the long run, but come on. I'm sure you can manage if you really want a truck.
But if not, I'm sure a Prius will suffice.

You're missing the point.

As I outlined, I could possibly save $750 bucks a year on fuel without 4wd. I would have saved the $3,000 off the price of the truck without 4wd (even more if you include interest). I would save on the additional maintenance for the 4wd system.

So, through the life of my loan I could save in upwards of $7,500 if I wouldn't have gotten 4wd. I'll take my check for $7,500, now if you'd prefer

Anyways, I love my 4wd and wouldn't never have a truck without it. I was just pointing out your lack of vision of the bigger picture when it comes to 4wd...

2W/D, I average about 17.5-18 mpg combined driving.

On just e-ways, computer sez 21.5 mpg, 2W/D, 70mph.
Why would you drive that much with 4x4 engaged? That's hard on your transfer case and front drive shaft....

Listen to me. And listen to me carefully. Never ever buy a full size truck without 4wd ever. I made a huge mistake when I bought my 2010 lariat with 2wd and I regret it fully. My next truck im buying will definetly have 4wd.

X2. It may be cheaper for now but that doesn't factor having to pay someone to pull you out of a snowbank, mudhole, or sand if you get stuck... A 4wd has more ground clearance as well.

ninja'd

x3, I had an 06 with 2wd. Little better fuel mileage and less money on the sticker price. But I will never do that again The one time your getting towed out, or your shoveling yourself out of a foot of snow you'll forget about $3.26 you saved filling up.

Now 2011 4x4.
