But if not, I'm sure a Prius will suffice.
Yeah I'm sure a Prius will be just what I am looking for.... Thank you for your contribution.

I am probably getting the 4WD. I looked up the vale of 10 yr old trucks and the book value of the 4WD trucks seems to be $2k higher. I have had Dodge Dakota for the last 10 years and pulled many boats and trailers with it. Definitely weigh more than the truck is rated for and I have never been stuck.

My only thought other than 4WD is a locking rear axle. I live in Florida so snow is never an issue for me and my current boat (21' center console) would be no problem to pull with the new truck. My only thought is if I get a larger boat (24-26) in the next few years I don't want to be stuck at the ramp spinning my tires.

I would get the 4X4. I have an 07 XLT 2WD. I like it and all but I get 15mpg. Granted it has an intake, exhaust, headers and a performance tune running 93 octane. Still, the difference of mpg in 4WD to 2WD is so little, it is worth having the 4X4 IMHO.

Can some people tell me what kind of mileage you are getting in the newer F-150's 2WD and 4WD? I have decided I want to go with the 5.0 and probably a 3.31 rear end.
I have an 07 2wd and I don't know if that falls under what you are considering newer but I usually get 15 in town and I've gotten up to 22 on highway which I've reproduced multiple times. I do have a intake mod and a tuner though. My next truck will definitely be a 4X4 though because some of the things i do a 4X4 will help so I'm not strictly one or another.

If you dont mind I'll give you some feedback on what I think of the truck you are thinking about. If you do hunt and go offroad then i would definitely consider a 4X4 but if it is just using it to go to work and around town then I would go with a 2wd... Its all about what you will be using the truck for. Also if you tow any I would recommend the 3.55 or 3.73 gears even though they will not give as good MPGs but they will give more power when towing or when you have a load in the bed.

Just read your last post and i would say a 4wd will be better with pulling off the dock and a plus is you can go practically any where else you want to go when its too cold for the boat. I would definitely consider 3.55 or 3.73 gears though since you do tow a boat and if you ever get bigger tires then youll be happy you have the bigger gears

Thanks for all the feedback and MPG numbers.

Also I have no problem with a Prius, I just don't see how that first guy got from me asking about gas mileage to me needing a Prius.
