Default 3rd Brake Light issue?

I just noticed condensation/water droplets on the bottom of my third brake light.
Is this something to be concerned about? I read several posts where these lights were leaking and caused damage to the inside of the vehicle.

If it's still under warranty take it back to the dealer. I had to have mine replaced under warranty for the same leak.

Warranty is in your manuals, and yes, it's still covered. That is normal, mine had soapy water and got green and I got it replaced a few weeks ago - under warranty.

Search the 2009-2014 section, MASSIVE thread. Anyways most guys just go the silcone route, as the warranty fix might leak again, mine has actually formed green algae or whatever in there. One of these days I'll get around to it.

I must note this is not specific to new F150's, this has been going on in older ones and also many GM trucks!

Another option is aftermarket third brake light, seems some come with thicker gasket.
Also you could build your own gasket.

I am definitely going tomorrow to bring it by the dealership and see what they have to say about it.
I can deal with a little water in the brake light, my make concern is water actually coming into the cab and soaking the headliner. I read somewhere on this forum that somebody had that happen to them.
Granted it will be covered under warranty, but I just don't want to go through the hassle of leaving my truck at the dealership while they replace the headliner and so on. It's a good thing that I caught it now lol

Yes there are a few I read that happened too, even worse the moisture collects in the cab corners and 5 years later you have cab corner rot. (NOT covered by warranty, Yay!)

Google it. "Cab corner rot from third brake light"

Its when the rear corners start rusting and you don't even know it until it is too late. Not specific to third brake light, can happen from sunroofs too.

This happens to GM too, not sure about Dodge, never owned one!

Don't get too worked up over it, it takes extreme negligence to become a real problem!
