Default 2wd or 4wd

What do you all prefer ? Its nice to have a 4wd truck but some people dont use it much. If you have a really nice truck i dont think you would want to take it up in rough places anyway, am i right

I live in the mountains of western Pa, so 4wd is a must for me. Wouldn't own a 2wd truck.
I've been 4 wheeling for years, been to alot of nice places, through alot of fairly rough stuff, and have never once tore up any of my trucks. Off roading isn't about ripping and tearing. There's always the possible of damaging something, but that can also happen on my way to work in the morning.
If it get's too rough, I have an old beater Jeep in the garage.

I love the look of 4wd trucks but can't justify the xtra $ or lower mpg. I now have lifted 2wd and i'm happy. All the offroad I do is to take the quad to the dunes nothing major and def don't need a 4wd. just my 2

2WD's can be as capable as a 4wd if you add the right features: Locker & tires. My 2wd is lifted 6" (3 susp & 3 body), running 35's, Auburn Autocross Diff, and I have NEVER gotten stuck anywhere...

A 2wd can be capable, but no where near the same as a 4wd.
Add some snow, and that's a where a 2wd truck is dead in the water.
