My old o-ring around my old plug is starting to seep. (I drive an 07)
I wonder if the plastic will be prone to issues because of heat, over time

Pump evacuation through dipstick tube. Simple. Only remaining problem is the oil filter.

Impossible with the 2.7L. Take note of where the dipstick tube is in relation to the sump.

Excellent information. Sorry if I got any 2.7L owners excited. Wonder if 3.5L is the same?

I will never buy a car with a plastic oil pan. What a dumb idea.

completely differnt animal.
the 2.7 is one of the most advanced turbocharged gas engines ford has ever produced.
the 3.5 is a turbo retrofit to an NA motor.

For me this means a lot - not being able to use my oil extractor.

I am physically unable to change my own oil now. I go to the dealer who treats me great. I get the “works” which includes an oil change, tire rotation (which I also can’t do myself), battery load test, and the multi-point inspection which I like because I can’t get under my truck to check on things now. All this for $43 - it would cost me the same for just the oil and filter.

With my ‘09 5.4L it was a simple process. No matter what when I got the oil changed at the dealer it would be a little high on the dipstick for me. Easy enough to suck a little out with the extractor and satisfy my OCD tendency.

But now with this 2.7L I don’t know what to do. I fully expect them to overfill the oil not taking the time required. When I get home I will not be able to suck any oil out.

They won't. I do this:

1. remove diaper
2. drain pan
3. replace filter
4. fill oil
5. reinstall diaper

I have never checked the oil level in my truck. Add 6 quarts and know its in the pan like any other motor and check for leaks.

I never check the oil level in any vehicle because I add the factory required capacity.
that isn't what the dipstick is for.

The 3.5 was designed to be turbo from the beginning. It was just released N/A first.
