2017 f150 stock tires
I have a 2017 F150 XLT 4x4 3.5L EB SuperCrew on order. Has the 5.5' bed, Max Tow, Sport & FX pkg. Literature says it comes with 275/65R 18 AS/AT tires. I'm interested in knowing whether these come stock from the factory with P rated tires or a LT tire. The truck will be a daily driver (I'm retired) and also tow a 23' trailer with max weight of 5,200#'s, my wife, dog and gear. At times, may leave pavement on graded gravel Forest Service & BLM roads in mountains and high desert. Could also be on slightly rougher roads when not towing trailer, but not hard core 4 wheeling. Used to own a '99 F250 with 10 ply load range E tires. I suspect the truck comes stock with P rated tires and am looking for suggestions on what to upgrade to given use and possible destinations. A slightly rougher ride is not an issue, given that I'm coming from a 4x4 F250 with camper pkg. It was a beast.
Thx.

Thanks, missed that detail in the brochure when putting my build together for the order. Looks like I will need to add after the fact. At least I can choose exactly what I put on vs what they would have chosen to send me had I checked that option.

A lot of really good LT tires in that size. I just installed Yokohama Geolandar G015 LT. It is rated 2 below BFGoodrich KO2 and reasonably priced. Discount Tire will probably pay about 200 to 250 as trade in on new tires.

I think you're right here...but still it's one phone call, and they may be able to do a swap with another vehicle some time during the transport process, saving you having to buy new tires right away.

Seems odd the Max Tow package would come with P rated tires.
Maybe check out what that package includes.

I assume that you're talking about LT-E tires, because LT-C tires have less load capacity and would be a downgrade, not an upgrade. Also, most of the LT tires today are now 2-ply sidewalls just like the P tires for fuel economy reasons, so you're not going to get much benefit for puncture resistance on the forest service roads.
Personally, I'd take the P rated tires for the MPG gain, ride quality gain, and silica compound that is safer in rain/snow. But to each their own.
Good luck with the new truck. It would be exciting to order a new one. I'm jealous.
