Yes it is, but now more and more concept cars and trucks are 90% if not more what the production vehicle is going to look like. Re-read the OP. Ford wants to sway people from the revised GM line up and Dodge has put all there cards on the table so Ford is not going to stray to far from there concept if they are planning on staying #1 in truck sales. The market is hotter than ever for the truck segment and staying ontop now means some serious WOW FACTOR being put into every aspect of the truck because that is what the consumer wants.

given the circumstances, for example the new rams and chevys/GMCs coming out, I would guess, given that the fords are suppsed to be '15s and later than the competition, that ford wants to put the competition in it's place with their new generations/facelifts, but they have no final model ready yet to do so. so they're offering a concept version for now. I would think the concept to be just an "unfinished" version if you will, and the production truck to be vastly similar, but with a few tweaks and improvements, et cetera.
just my 2 cents....

Hate to say that if that truck under the blanket is there top secret 2015 concept truck,,Hey still looks like a Ford truck to me. The whole point of a concept is to change the total look of the vehicle, move it in a direction nobody else is doing, not just a few exterior fluff items. A real concept change was when FORD rolled out the new Super Duty back a decade ago, that changed the whole truck industry to pattern there trucks after Big Rig look. Now that was a true change.
