The six speed and its variants is a complete joint venture between the two, very successful. Each group shared equally in its development, and finishes the unit off to their own needs and final spec. I am not familiar with their truck's trannies but I assume the six speed in our current F150 gen is the one derived from that programme.

The Atlas does look good...this truck...not so good.

No one checks their sources these days before they start complaining... this is NOT the confirmed 2015 f150. This is the work of a really talented graphic designer and images of the ACTUAL covered up f150. Don't get your panties in a wad because you don't like the front end. This is not the actual 2015 f150.

I've read front end design cues from Tundra, Ram,...and whatever Nissan's truck is called. As others have pointed out, it's unknown what the front end will look like, but if it the concept being discussed looks like anything, it's the Super Duty; look also at the side window treatment (in at least some of the pictures out there). If they follow through with that styling, I'll be disappointed, I like the F150 and the Super Duty to have different styling.

I realize that isn't it - and I really hope it's not close to that. If I wanted a Tundra I'd buy one. I don't get offended by ugly so much as I do look a likes.

I loved the '09 as soon as I saw it. When I drove it - blown away. 63,000 miles later have no desire to change unless something very close to the Atlas - or a Raptor with a 6.5 box comes out.

Anyway, I wish they would just produce the Atlas and blown everyone away + make a lot of us happy :-)

What do you guys think about this? Ditching parts of the fully boxed frame to save weight?

Don't know if I like that. Part of their strength comes from having that fully boxed frame. I just hope they know what they are doing and not making this a 'crossover' truck or some crap like that. When I saw the headlight pics I was thinking, uh oh I'm in trouble because so far it will look like the atlas and I will have to upgrade but now I don't know...I want a tough truck, not just a looker.

A fully boxed frame doesn't mean diddly!...just a marketing thing... a way to make the frame stronger with thinner, lower psi steel. I would take a C channel, sronger frame any day over the present-cheezy fuly boxed frame.
My Super Duty F-250's frame is almost a 1/4" thick...it would probably survive driving through a house! I also used to own several Navistar 4900 series medium dudy trucks and you can actually order different psi density frames while specing these trucks...also c channel!
