2013 vs. 2014 Lariat
#3
They are identical, same color (black two-tone w/adobe interior) both 502A with 20" alum. wheels, both have HID lights, only difference is 2014 DOES NOT have angular step bar (kind of needed?). 2013 is $2500 cheaper...

They were producing 2013's at least into November, if not later. I'd want that 2013 more than only $2500 cheaper. That dealer should give you the truck at cost and split the $1000 Ford kickback with you just to get rid of it.

Agreed... for $2500 more I'd take the 2014. When buying the 13 you are basically buying a vehicle that is already 1 year old and in a few months will be 2 years old. I'd low ball the **** out of the dealer on the 13 or walk out with the 14. I agree the dealer should be selling the 13 to you at cost or a bit less to get it off the lot.

Like was said above, 2013s were being produced late in the year. Mine came off the line in October, so the Lariat in question may not be that "old". Take a look at the window sticker for the date.
$2500 is alot of change for some.

There are several factors that play in. Where are you located? In Texas, I'd need 14k+ off of MSRP. 10k off isn't even that good of a deal even on a 2014 for us. Trucks are considerably more expensive up north. Next, if you're like me and going to drive the truck until it's worth next to nothing, saving money on the 2013 may be worth it. If you're going to trade it in in 3-5 years, I'd have to do research and see how much one year of age devalues the truck. If it's $2k for one year of age, I'd personally want $3k or so to justify that instant depreciation.

I haven't been able to approach anywhere near $14k off for a Lariat. I am in Texas, Houston actually. I've gotten close to around $10k off offered, but not at the 0% financing, which I'm sticking to my guns on, 800 credit score. But I am patient, and all the talk about get it while the selection is good??? I can find exactly what I want right now in a '13 (a loaded 2-tone Lariat), but not at the price I want...

Well that's exactly where I'm at haha. I'd need $14k+ off on a 13. I'd probably take $10k off on a '14 if it was exactly what I was looking for. But 10-12k off on '14s is the norm for the good negotiators I know. I work at a dealership right across the street from a Ford dealer too. Not all play ball, but someone will.
