Default 2013 FX4...... Opinions. V8 or Ecoboost

I'm in the market for a 2013 FX4...... Should I get the V8 or the Ecoboost? Gas mileage point of interest for me.

Also..... 20" wheels or 18"? Which ride better and promote better fuel economy?

I like to hear what fuel mile ages you guys are getting. For the record I drive a 2010 FX4 5.4 V8.... Dash says I'm averaging 16.6 mpg. I haven't reset it in a year. 65% hwy/ 35% city.

Thanks for your input.

I have a 2013 FX4 with a 6.2L
I'm getting 13 on the hwy doing 120 and about 15 in town.
Way better for towing. I'm also running on 20's.

Gas mileage is irrelevant. Ask 10 people with the same combo and get 15 answers. At best there is a 1mpg difference unless you are willing to go 3.15 rear with the Eco. But that isn't an option with 4x4.

Nobody gets the Eco because it gets better gas mileage unless they are uninformed. It might net 1-2 better mpg, but it might not. Depends on the person. I often drive both and the Eco does slightly better but not much unless there are lots of country roads. My best TANK average was 20.2mpg. Probably 70% hwy. The 5.0 best for me was 18.5. But it is less highway and a multi user work truck.

Get the Eco if you want more power. Gas mileage shouldn't matter much.

Well satisfied with the mpg's on my 5.0...I'm still amazed how these big heavy 4x4 Screw's can get 20 mpg or better on the hwy (at sensible speed's) I'm getting 16-17 city and right at 19-20 on the hwy depending on the speed and if I run the AC or not. My truck is also leveled and running slightly oversize tires too!

Wondering about the 18" versus 20" tires also.... Ride, fuel mileage?

What advantages are there to leveling the truck?

18" are probably a little better because I'd imagine they weight slightly less. More matters what tires you run. Leveling isn't for fuel economy, its to make the front level with the back.

A 6000lb truck doesn't get good gas milage regardless of engine, pick the engine that fits your needs. EB and 5.0 are with in 1mpg each and both suck back the gas while towing. Just my 2 cents.

I have 5k miles on my 2013 CCSB 4x4 5.0 with 3.55 gears and I drive 100 miles a day of rolling hills at 65mph on cruise and I get 18.2mpg. I hand calculate every tank.
