Default 2013 factory side steps

I don't know if it's just me, but does anyone feel that the factory side steps are awkwardly placed? I have to place my foot in a weird position, it feels like they are at a downward angle, and way to close to the body.

Is there anyway to fix it to where they stick out more and more of a parallel angle? Also they are very slippery with no grip. Would skateboard tape work ok on the plastic?

I feel like my factory nerf bars are definitely too close to the body especially when wet or icey. If they were another inch out it would be more convenient and prevent more door dings.

I hate the running boards on my 14 STX. I'm very seriously considering just Taking them off. To me they serve no purpose other than making the truck look like it has less ground clearance.

I've heard of someone being able to stick them out about another inch. I have looked all over this forum trying to find the thread and I haven't had any luck. I even searched around google and nothing. I'm sure someone on here will now how to do it or send a link to the thread

i've been meaning to do the "grip tape mod" on the stock running boards. though I too would like to stick them out about an inch more. i don't slide out of my truck so when i put my foot on the running board, it's only my heel. i also don't want the Mrs. to have a hard time or slip and fall one day.

Is this only a 2013 F150's? I have had my 2013 truck just over two weeks andin Seattle we get rain and more rain, on the second time my wife entered the truckshe almost bottomed out. Ford must come up with a solution sooner or later, laterafter being sued would not the time to do that, NOW would be.

A slip and fall because of the running boards doesn't and can't be a means of a lawsuit. I have the same 2013 with the chrome tube factory step. It does get slippery when is gets wet but if you squarely place your foot on it your fine. My advice, do rush and be careless take your time .

If you are willing to pay a lawyer you can sue over anything. And sometimes stupid cases end up winning.
